The town is on the eastern limit of Priorat County. It borders Torre de Fontaubella to the South and the town of Marçà to the Southwest. The town of Falset is to the west and Porrera is to the northwest. Alforja is North and Duesaigües i l'Argentera are to the East. These last three towns belong to County Baix Camp.

The town is found on the west slopes of the “Sierra of Argentera” or the “Sierra of Pradell” (742 metres) which slipt the two Counties in a North-South direction. It is an important cliff which creates a magnificent natural balcony over the County Baix Camp.

The landscape is undulating with peaks such as “ Puig de la Font (680 m) to the west, the “Puig de la Font” ( 680m), the “Puig”(597m) or the “Puig de l´Espinós (523m) where some ravines originate.

Historically, primitive man looked for a place of refuge and found shelter in the caves or “Sierras” where they lived and hunted in the fertile valley where the town is now located.

There was a small group of people who had a dependency of the Valley of Siurana during the Islamic dominance. The land was sold the the “ muslims” of Garcia and this is why when the catalan army reconquered this place , it was not part of the Valley of Siurana. With the Barony of Escornalbou in favour of the miter of Tarragona, Pradell was included as a part of a territory very important for the Barony´s matters.
